Introduction: Prevalence of asthma is still rising in developed countries including Indonesian. Asthma is one of the most important diseases in childhood, causing substantial morbidity. This study using the ISAAC (International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood) questionnaire to determine asthma prevalence in Junior high school student especially 13-14 years old and behavior cigarette smoking among students in East Jakarta.
Method : The ISAAC questionnaire were distributed to 12 Junior High Schools in East Jakarta and total subject 2023 to answer the ISAAC questionnaire and additional questionnaire about cigarette smoking. Self administrated were applied.
Result : Two thousand and twenty three subject age 13 – 14 years old were enrolled in this study. The prevalence of asthma was 13,4% and 31,1% of students had ever smoke cigarettes. We found 12,9% of students with asthma are current cigarette smoker.
Conclusion : The prevalence of asthma was 13,4%. Asthma allergy not relate to behavior smoke since student smoke 1-2 year, mean one bar [of] per day so that affect not yet been felt.
