Hubungan Merokok dan Lama Rawat Inap Pasien Asma Eksaserbasi Akut Di RSUP Sanglah Denpasar

In most developed countries ±25% of adults with asthma are current cigarette smokers. Asthma and cigarette smoking interact to cause more severe symptoms, accelerated decline in lung function, and impaired short-term therapeutic response to corticosteroids. One of variable to evaluation response of treatment was length of stay. The aim this study was to know association of smoking and length of stay of asthmatic patients in Sanglah General Hospital. This study is retrospective study to medical record of asthmatic patients admission at Sanglah General Hospital. In this study we found 102 asthmatic patients and prevalence of current smoking 7.8% and ex-smoker 18.8%, length of stay in patients with current smoking was longer than patients without smoking (6.63 days : 4.93 days, p=0.001). The conclusion this study is length of stay of asthmatic patients with smoking was longer than asthmatic patient without smoking.
