Abstract
Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) diagnosis using spirometry in primary care is quite difficult due to the availability. The aim of this study is to evaluate diagnosis value of symptom-based questionnaire in COPD diagnosis. Methods: Literature search using Pubmed, SCOPUS, and EBSCO databases yield three relevant and full-text articles. Results: Symptom-based questionnaire yields low specificity (54-65% on 19.5 cut off) yet high sensitivity (59-94% on 16,5 cut off), it also available in primary care. Conclusion: COPD symptom-based questionnaire is not useful for diagnosing COPD but suited for screening. (J Respir Indo. 2013; 33:258-63)
