Abstract
Various studies on cancer resistance to chemotherapy and targeted-therapy led to possible role cancer stem cells (CSCs). The CSCs hypothesis argued that cancer consists of heterogeneous cell phenotypes of which only a small subset can fully regenerate the tumor and resist to chemotherapy. Various molecular explanations for the resistance of cancer have been disclosed in several international journals. This paper will limit the discussion to the role of cancer stem cells (CSCs) in cancer resistance to chemotherapy which leads to cancer recurrence. (J Respir Indo. 2015; 35: 57-60)
